Thursday Oct. 4,2012. Alyssa started her first chemo treatment for the 3rd time. Alyssa will be taking two drugs Avast &
Irinotecan (camptosar) Each drug is injected over a 90 min. span with a short break in between for a flush. Alyssa will be
doing this at CHOA every other week for the next 18 to 24 months depend on how well she can tolerate the treatments and her
fragile health holds up. She is up to the challenge and wants to fight this tumor and win. So please keep Alyssa in your prayers
that this round of treatment does the trick and allow Alyssa to have a life that the cancer took her childhood.

Alyssa Life FlightedAlyssa was Life flighted for the second time this year she was not breathing on her on again. she was taken to CHOA at
Scottish Rite in Atl. on Tuesday 8/16/2011 She was put on the vent to keep her breathing. Alyssa was moved to #4 PICU where
she was alert and writing notes and keep a eye on her med's as all ways. The family was informed that Alyssa could not come
off the vent tube without having a Tracheotomy. This is something Alyssa did not want. After a couple of days of meeting with
doctors and discussing her chances and the out come and her option's. as of today she is on a plan to have a tracheotomy she
will be moved to rehab for two months and then Alyssa will be put on chemo for the 3rd time. Alyssa's plan is to keep her
airway open with the tracheotomy rehab helping her build her strength and chemo to reduce the tumors. Alyssa and our family
has a very hard road ahead as have been the last seven years. But Alyssa beening the person she is she has the support of
her family and her extended family for strength and support. Thank you all for prayers and please keep them going up to heaven.
And no that Alyssa and our family thank you for your support. May God Bless.

Alyssa has just came home from another two week stay at CHOA. She has been having a hard time breathing due to her throat
being swollen which cuts of her air way. Alyssa has been put on the list to go back into Physical Therapy for two to three
months. This means that Alyssa & Angela with be staying at CHOA and working on getting Alyssa the help she needs to hopefully
build her strength back up. When she gets up set about anything this causes her throat to close and restricts her away causing
her to pass out and stop breathing. The doctors are considering putting her back on Chemo for the third time as well. SO Alyssa
has allot going on right now.

Alyssa's Story
Life changed forever on 2/14//05 Alyssa was diagnosed with a Inoperable Brain Stem Glioma (brain
tumor ). Alyssa began her long Chemo Treatment in March of 2005. Once a week for 16 months, at the tender age of 6 years
old. Alyssa is under the care of lots of Doctors, she started back on Chemo Treatments in April of 2008 and finished on July
2009 Chemotherapy treatment. The year of 2008, Alyssa was having lots of headaches, vomiting, choking, almost daily.
So she had to have several major surgeries and two Major Brain Surgeries. One was to help relieve pressure off the brain because
the tumor is so large it needed more space. So again our life's where turned upside down. It was a terrible journey we
didn't want to be on. This was a hard decision to make, because of all the risk involved, but not doing the surgery
there were also risks involved. But unfortunately the surgery was not successful. (Sub-occipital Craniectomy.C1 and C2
laminectomy. Duraplasty for decompression of the brain-stem glioma.)What this means, is
a piece of the skull was removed from the back of the head to try a help Alyssa, but was not successful. Alyssa,
then become very weak with no improvement, she had developed blood and fluid build up on her brain, more surgery
was needed. A Ventricular Shunt was placed into the brain to help with fluid drainage. Alyssa also was under another
surgery in August 2008 she spent lots of days and night in the Hospital. In January of 2009 Alyssa returned to
the ER and was admitted to the Hospital Fighting for her Life! Alyssa was burning up with a fever having chest pains,
she was diagnosed with blood clogs and bacteria infection in her Lungs. Her Lungs began filling up with fluid, then her fever
increased. Alyssa then coded Tuesday night around 10:30pm she was taken to ICU and placed on a Ventilator. Alyssa continued to
worsen,Alyssa was fighting for her live... but Alyssa beat all odds against her.
Just the in the year of 2009 Alyssa has spend over 7 months in the Hospital..from being
in pain, vomiting blood, severe headaches, chest pains. She is on lots of pain meds.so she cope with her pain...this is no way a
child should live ..Alyssa still battles with her medical problems daily and for Life !! She has a long Road ahead.......*Alyssa
is in Gods Hands*
We believe that this experience has changed
our whole families lives. We no longer sweat the small stuff and try and live everyday to the fullest. We are very thankful
and Blessed to have such a amazing Little Angel... We thank God for her she has bought so much Joy and Blessing
to our Lives.... So this is Alyssa's Day to Honor Her and say Thanks for all you do !....You Are Our HERO
!... WE Love you very much !...
